Fine all-round performance by Alok Sahoo and a half-century by Arabind Singh enabled Odisha script a thrilling three-run win over Vidarbha in their Vijay Hazare Trophy Group C league match at Palam Ground in Delhi today. The win fetched Odisha three points, while Vidarbha drew blank.
Electing to bat, Odisha struggled at 125 for six before a seventh wicket partnership worth 85 runs between Arabind and Alok helped them make a competitive total of 226. Arvind was the top scorer with 62 (64b, 5x4, 1x6), while Alok contributed 35.
In reply, Vidarbha squandered a sixth-wicket stand of 157 runs between Ravi Jangid and Akshay Karnewar to be all out for 223, losing their last five wickets for seven runs. Jangid missed his century by three runs, while Karnewar hit 72. Earlier, Vidarbha suffered a top-order failure as they were reduced to 59 for five. Odisha will play their second match against Maharashtra tomorrow.
